چکیده
The tumours of the small intestine constitute about 5% of all tumours of the gastrointestinal tract. These tumours are about equally divided between benign and malignant varieties. The autopsy incidence of small intestine tumours is about 0.2%. Lipoma of the small intestine is very rare and such tumour causing intussusception is also rare. We present a case of lipoma of the ileum causing intussusception.

Ileocecal Intussusception due to a Lipoma in an Adult
While intestinal tumors are rare, small intestinal lipomas are even more uncommon benign neoplasms. They are usually asymptomatic, but lipomas larger than 2 cm may become symptomatic due to obstruction, bleeding, or intussusception. In this paper, US and CT findings of a lipoma located in the terminal ileum and causing ileocecal intussusception were discussed. We report a case of small bowel li...
متن کاملGiant Ileo-cecal Lipoma Causing Intussusception in an Adult: A Case Report and a Review of Literature
Intussusceptions in adults are rare conditions with intestinal tumors underlying as the principal cause. Lipomas are an important cause for intussusceptions in adults and they may remain asymptomatic for a long time. The patients usually have non-specific symptoms and the diagnosis relies on imaging methods among which the most useful is CT scan. The treatment consists of surgical intervention ...
متن کاملPreoperative Diagnosis of Adult Intussusception Caused by Small Bowel Lipoma
Adult intussusception is rare, accounting for only 5% of all intussusceptions, for which preoperative diagnosis is difficult. We herein report a preoperatively diagnosed case of adult intussusception caused by a small bowel lipoma. A 33-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with three weeks history of colicky epigastric pain. Computed tomography revealed thickening of the ileal wall suggest...
متن کاملPancreatic Heterotopia in an Ileal Lipoma - A Pathological Rarity Causing Intestinal Obstruction
Adult intussusception is a rare entity. In adults, 90% have a cause for intussusception which is usually a polyp, adenoma, adhesion, hamartoma, or tumor as a lead point. Rarely described is heterotopic pancreatic tissue with lipoma as a lead point. Here, we report a case of a 35-year-old male patient who presented with diffuse abdominal pain for 1 day. Computed tomography scan of the abdomen an...
متن کاملLaparoscopic-assisted resection of ileal lipoma causing ileo-ileo-colic intussusception.
Adult intussusception is rare, and the majority of cases has an underlying cause that requires surgical resection. We report a case of a 39 yr-old man with ileo-ileo-colic intussusception caused by ileal lipoma that was successfully managed by a laparoscopic-assisted surgical maneuver. Using a three-cannula technique, ileo-colic intussusception was reduced laparoscopically. Then, through a 4-cm...
